HD sent me an email indicating that from May 21-29 they will grant a 10% discount to any single receipt in store purchase if you are in the military. I assume that it also applies to retired military since the notice did not indicate otherwise. You may wish to pass this on to anyone who fits the bill. I tried to find out more info on the HD website, but could find no mention of the deal. Why have a good deal that so few folks know about?
I purchased a door and several other items at Lowes a few years ago on July 3rd. As I was fishing out my credit card, the check-out clerk noticed my military ID card in my wallet and advised me that they were giving out a 10% military discount that weekend (it was not publicised). I said "OK I'll take it" and saved about $50 on my purchase. This HD deal seems to be simular to the deal that I received.

Re: 10% Home Depot discount
Some other Home Depot Discounts:
1. Apply for a commercial revolving line of credit. Not heavily advertised, but they'll typically give you 10% off with the application. Bonus: you don't actually have to use the line of credit. Just apply for it. You can even cancel it when it arrives in the mail.
2. Discount codes for Home Depot from RetailMeNot. Check RetailMeNot.com's Home Depot Section. Currently, there's an active $5 off a $50 purchase code.
3. Home Depots Online Discounts and Specials.
4. Savings.com: They have a 10% off the entire store code now. See their Home Depot Page.
Enjoy!
