Our city grinds up all wood, brush and other natural items. They have huge piles of this stuff (2 stories high sometimes) that is free for the taking. It's very clean and easy to handle. All you have to do is drive over and shovel as much as you want into whatever you have. It makes it easier with a truck, but there are many folks that use their car and an interesting collection of containers to load up.
After Christmas-time they grind up the disposed-of trees and have a special pile for them. That stuff goes fast and provides a wonderful aroma in the yard for a few weeks.
How does your town/city handle it's natural/brush pick up?

Re: Free Garden Mulch
That's excellent! I don't know what ours does with theirs. It definitely doesn't offer a service like that. I've got to buy my mulch every year for the garden and they just ask that you put the Christmas trees out with the trash on your normal pick up day. I'll see if I can find out because that would be a wonderful thing to do for the community. Thanks for the information, micharch.
