Two facts: First, Social Security has already decided what your normal retirement age is. Second, it's probably not age 65.
Your normal retirement age is the age at which you are eligible for your full retirement benefit from the Social Security Administration. The age is based on your year of birth and can currently be as old as 67. Of course, those folks currently decades away from reaching 67 years old can be reasonably confident that their retirement age will be even later.
Well before retirement be sure to review your normal retirement age, learn about the reduction caused by an early retirement and the increase to your benefit due to a delayed retirement.
