My electricity bill is up again and the only thing it can be is the dryer. I bought one from a friend that replaced hers. It's older but it works fine. My bill's jumped $50 this month and that's all I can think of that's different. I didn't think I'd used it that much too because I always hang the clothes outside if the weather's nice. It's been a wet month though. I haven't had a dryer for ages. Is that what they cost to run?
My tip for economical clothes dryer use~Use the clothesline in the back yard instead of.
Great tips, rleahy! You and micharch are right. I have always preferred line drying to using a dryer or drying indoors. I think the clothes smell fresher too. Even when I have to hang them up indoors to dry, they never take longer than overnight anyway. As long as you hang them in a room that's not used much like you say, it doesn't get underfoot and saves you money too.
Jewel, I'll be trying the towel thing next time I use mine. Thanks for that!
Kay I tried that and it really did help. I run my dryer for the shortest time I can get away with and I'm convinced this reduced it. Obviously you want the towel to be a dry one! :)

I'm not up on the running costs. One tip I did read was to put a thick towel in with the wet clothes. Apparently it helps speed up the drying.
