We are. My husband and I used to pop out all the time but now that we're trying to be more frugal, we're conscious of how often we do so. Now we aim to get everything when we go to the store so we don't have to make all those extra trips. Have you tried saving money this way or is that not something you'd do? Kay
I don't do a lot of running around but for a stretch there a couple of months back the prices were ridiculous. There's a site where you can find the cheapest ones in your local area or state called gas buddy. You enter your zip code and it comes up. Works for Canada too.
That's a handy site you have there, greenmachine! Thanks. I'm so relieved the fuel's come back down! It was getting beyond a joke. We kept debating whether or not to fill up the tank and every time we decided against it sure enough it would be higher the next day. Trips more than a half hour away didn't happen like they used to.
How about getting 150 miles to the gallon? This car's only three years away from going on sale and can do small trips of 10-15 miles on solar alone. No gas left? You can resort to pedal power.
The vehicle, from the Hungarian non-profit Antro, weighs just 600 pounds, reaches speeds upwards of 80 miles an hour, gets 150 miles to the gallon and sports pedals for each passenger.

LOL, I like that purplerain. My thighs need the exercise too. :)
I was thinking there, no one has suggested using alternative cheaper forms of transport instead of using the car. It's the season for nice bike rides.

Or buses! This lady took a 35 minute bus tour around her local area and it only cost $3. Buses aren't ideal when you have groceries but if it can get you from A to B cheaply, why not?

I always try to combine any local trips that I need to do ~library, supermarket, bank, gas, work out location etc. I rarely go to just one place; it is generally a 4-5 stop deal that I have mapped out in my head to take advantage of location and traffic.

Good thinking, micharch. My ac went out on our old car so that's suddenly very, very important to me. Even more so than usual! LOL.

We're going to get rid of our car after Christmas and look for something smaller and more fuel efficient. It costs a fortune to run around town in it and really we don't need something that big. I'm counting on the January sales to get a good deal.
