Medical procedures, doctor appointments, and anything that involves procedures at the hospital can be very expensive-especially when you don't have the proper health insurance. If you are low income, or are having trouble meeting the minimum payments for your medical bills, you need to seek information about financial assistance for your medical account. Most all hospitals offer some sort of financial assistance program for those who have trouble paying their bills.

By talking to the finance department of the hospital - if you already have debt - you may find that they will offer a settlement amount. This would be especially true if you have been having difficulty making regular payments, and after they start the threatening with the collections process. It is possible that the debt could be reduced - by 50% or more. You may be pleasantly surprised. In many cases, they would rather get some money soon - than have a general possibility of a slight return later - but at great cost.
That's interesting MikeV, I didn't know that. I heard about an elderly person today that had a heart attack and her family's worried about the costs beyond what Medicare will cover. I'll tell them about that. Thank you both.
