College is a great opportunity for all students, no matter what their financial status may be. Everybody deserves a chance at a great college education. If you are on a tight budget or low income, there are grants and scholarships available to help lighten the cost load. Follow these tips to help you seek assistance in paying for college for your child or yourself.
Step 1
Apply for student financial aid. Applications are available at the college of your choice and also online. Speak with a college counselor or adviser about receiving an application for financial assistance. You will need copies of your current income to attach with your application. If a student lives with his parents, he must declare his parents income on the application as well. Some students prefer to live on their own while attending college so that they can be eligible for more financial assistance.
