I've made rubbish purchases before that seemed like a good idea at the time. What did you buy that you thought would be a good deal or product that wasn't? What wasn't good about it? Confess all and I will too LOL.
I'll never buy again anything in a bargain bucket without checking the dates on it. I once bought twelve bottles of half price BBQ sauce en route home from a vacation. I was so proud of myself until I unpacked them all at home. Every bottle except one was out of date and the one that wasn't only had two weeks left.
"Mighty Putty".
I know, I'm stupid for buying an "as seen on TV" item, but I figured it was just epoxy in a handy putty form.
Hardens, but doesn't stick to anything I've tried it on, metal, brick, etc.
At least it was cheap at WalGreens, so I'm not out much.

That's rotten. I don't mean to sound selfish but I'm so glad you said that, billeater! My husband's had his beady eye on that stuff. Yahoo Answers says that it has its limitation. You don't expect it to be THAT limited. Some commenter said it's JB Weld Stick.

Speaking of as seen on TV products, my friend bought a ShamWow and said it's no better than an ordinary chamois cloth. He wanted to use it on his car and was really disappointed in the results.
Hot peppers. I thought I could handle a bottle with a warning on them about how hot they were. I can't remember the brand name yet. Turns out I couldn't and the warning only wasn't there to make it look tempting LOL. My eyes streamed for hours. I believe the labels now.
I'll never buy again a couch that doesn't have removable cushions. They are very hard to clean properly and also trap every tiny bit of dust and dirt. I did it once and won't do that again.
A car with two doors. It's a pain! Now my son's older I thought it would be okay. No having to fight with car seat buckles. I forgot about getting the groceries in and out of the back seat or cleaning the car out. Have you ever tried to vacuum inside the back seat of a two door car? It's a miracle you don't put your back out climbing past half folded front seats to reach.
Ugh, pretty much everything with an "As seen on T.V." sticker. They either don't work at all, or they are poor quality items that don't work well.

Whenever I see those slicer/dicer/shredder board things that make all the fancy shaped vegetables I want one LOL. That's another thing about Seen on TV people. The demonstrators have practiced and practiced with that stuff and are fast. You or I would be lucky to do what they do at a tenth of the speed. I'm not buying that I could be as good.
I got a hair band gadget that's supposed to help you style your hair in a million ways. It snapped within a week and I figured out how to do two of the styles. They never explain how to do all the variations. What a piece of junk.
By the way, Dollar General is starting to stock these "As Seen on TV" products in a new section. I saw a bra clasp that hides your straps on cutaway dresses and a digital clock that both had those logos on them. DG's probably getting these items in for Christmas. I'm sure the price will be much lower there than on the original infomercial.
I'll never buy again colored tshirts you need to wash separately. There's nothing worse than getting a bargain then finding the dye runs when you wash it. I throw them out because I know they'll lie at the bottom of the laundry basket forever before I handwash them.
Jewel, I agree! In fact your post made my mind up to throw all mine out that are left to the side too. I'm seriously thinking about going monochrome to make washing easier.

That would suit me too pennywise. I hate sorting all the colors most of all and I never have enough of whatever color I really want to wash that day!

Dry-clean only clothes, when there are so many similar machine washables out there.

And the ads are so LOUD!! Or maybe that's just me. :)
Mike, I so agree on dry clean clothes. I've never bought anything that turned out to be worth the hassle or expense of that in the long run.

Good question. I'll never buy again any furniture that is self assembly. Last time I attempted it it was a multimedia unit thing. It was thrown out in the trash half constructed because I got so mad trying to put it all together. It's not worth my blood pressure being sky high! Easy self assembly! There's no such thing. It didn't help that there weren't any instructions in the box, which made me mad from the start.
