My neighbor's retiring from her local council job soon. I'd like to give her a small gift to mark the occasion. Trouble is I've never bought a retirement gift LOL. Is there any etiquette or rules about retirement gifts? What could I get her?
Maybe a gift basket for "Time to relax" gift! Things in it could be bath salts, a book, a magazine chocolates lotions etc.Just things to pamper herself with since theres no more up at the crack of dawn so to speak.

That's a neat idea. I was thinking of a gift basket too with items like slippers and popcorn and a movie. A Put Your Feet Up basket.
I don't think there's any etiquette. Just don't write "You're OLD!" on the card. ;) Is she intending to take up anything when she retires? You could get a gift that was relevant for a new or revived hobby.

Most people probably don't expect to get anything for their retirement, they are probably so excited about retiring LOL.
I would go with a nice, sincire card, and maybe a thoughtful gift basket, even just baking up some cookies or brownies would get the message across.

I don't know any woman that doesn't love getting flowers. I'd find out what you'd pay for a bouquet in local stores and check 1-800 flowers too online. They have clearance and sale items under Specials.
