We don't have any good fabric stores here. I want to buy it cheap and I know when I start telling the family I am they'll all want some so it won't just be a few yards at a time. Seconds is okay too because I'd be using it for odds and ends like curtains and bedding. Help! I don't know of any fabric outlet type places.
Did you look at overstock.com? They have a fabric section which is more related to crafts than anything. You can find quilting stuff there if you're intending to do some of that.
Would it not be better to just see what's on clearance in sheets and curtains?

I think that's a good idea, greenmachine. I haven't had any luck at all finding somewhere that the shipping wouldn't kill me stone dead. Most have craft stuff or were just too expensive. I'll try your way. Thanks!
Kay, thanks to you too for your suggestion. I did go to both but not much luck.
Does it have to be online? I have had the best luck buying clearance window or shower curtains, sheets and other similar items for fabric at Walmart. I took one large velvet drape on clearance for $20 and made four roman shades out of it.
I have also had luck at the Job Lot or Building 19. I usually find what I need in the sheets or pillow cases.
What are you making? It might spark some more ideas...
You'll never find it cheap online. Like you said, the shipping is a killer. But you don't need a good fabric store, just a good clearance sale and your imagination!
Hang out around yard sales and charity shops too. I've picked up nice curtains dead cheap that way and there was nothing wrong with them. People just have a clearout when they change their color scheme.

I wish we had a fabric section! Our Walmart's not got one and I don't know why they don't put one in. It would make good business sense. There's nothing for miles around that sells fabric apart from one designer type store that I couldn't afford. Our old Walmart had one and I was never out of it looking for bargains. I got plenty too.

Ebay has fabric by the bolt and by the yard. So does amazon.com. I don't know about anywhere else but will try find out. :)
