I paid $8.50 for a big bag at Walmart today that had over 100 pieces in it. I think that was a good buy because it was all wrapped chocolate. Are there any better places to shop for it?

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a rose with the other.

Holy heck, that's nearly ten dollars for candy! Buying stuff that's not wrapped or is easily unwrapped is a waste of time so you did the right thing. Most parents I know throw out candy like that straightaway in case it's been tampered with.
I haven't bothered pricing that yet. I'll post if I see anything better. :)

It's so sad that parents have to think like that. When I was a kid you never heard of horrible things being done to the Halloween candy. We used to have a bellyful before we even got home. Still, better safe than sorry. You'd never forgive yourself if your kid got hurt.

Dollar General is where I get mine. It's always cheap and I know I'm just in and out. When I go to Walmart I'm there for hours so DG it is.

We hardly get any kids so I don't mind paying a little more for a big bag of nice candy for them. And the next day I get to finish it off LOL. We only had six.

My problem with buying it too soon isn't only the price. We end up eating it and need to replenish it all over again LOL. It's expensive, until I get the half price stuff now and average out the cost in my mind. I can find a way to justify buying anything I really want. ;)

One year I forgot all about it until the neighbor's kids showed up at my door. I'd just moved in and didn't have a thing to give them. They all got a dollar each and were so pleased at getting that I've kept doing that. That's simpler for me because we're lucky if we get more than four. Better for my thighs too LOL.
