Consignment stores that specialize in gently used items for babies tend to be very picky about the items they will accept, so they are a great place to find items like baby clothes, cribs, high chairs, strollers, bouncers, and baby monitors, and more. And, if you can't find a consignment store in your area, there's some great internet resources as well. Do see our special note at the bottom of this article about safety.

Special Note: It's important to check for recalls when purchasing used children's items, especially items like cribs and car seats. While most of the reputable consignment shops will check recalls before selling an item, it pays to check yourself as well. See the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission for most items, but check the Department of Transportation's Special Web Site area for car seats.
